Isoflurane should be administered using a properly calibrated vaporizer in a suitable anesthetic circuit, since anesthesia levels could be altered quickly and easily. Isoflurane can be used together with other commonly used drugs in veterinary anesthetic treatments for premedication, induction and analgesia. Some exact examples are given in the information on individual species. The use of analgesia for painful procedures is in accordance with good veterinary practice.
· Horse: The MAC for isoflurane in the horse is approximately 1.31%.
· Dog: The MAC for isoflurane in the horse is approximately 1.28%.
· Cat: The MAC for isoflurane in the cat is approximately 1.63%.
